CHILDREN CLASSES 5-7

CHILDREN (ages 5-7)
A good martial arts program is one of the best things children can be involved in. Our training promotes physical development, self control/discipline, concentration and confidence. Martial Arts training is the perfect foundation for any athlete as it develops core strength, balance and flexibility. One of the greatest benefits training can bring to children is the ability to set a goal and see it through to completion. Beyond the physical our training teaches children how to be responsible, successful individuals which will allow them to have a better future.

About Tae Kwon Do
At Chung's Martial Arts Academy children primarily learn the art of Tae Kwon Do. Tae Kwon Do is a martial art and is also a popular Olympic sport. Tae Kwon Do as a sport features competitive sparring, board breaking and forms. Our children learn to do all of these things and will also learn basic self defense, how to safely fall and roll and how to use weapons such as the staff and nunchaku. Tae Kwon Do is known for its dynamic kicking techniques and athletic continuos sparring.

ADULT CLASSES AGES 13+

Adults (ages 13+)
Training in the martial arts is one of the best activities adults and teenagers can pursue. Through dedicated practice the body becomes strengthened, toned and flexible. The mind becomes sharper, decisive and more knowledgeable and the spirit is made calm and confident. No other activity offers so many benefits and gives one the ability to protect themselves.

At Chung's Martial Arts Academy students learn the complete system of Moo Sool Do. Moo Sool Do is primarily comprised of Tae Kwon Do, Tang Soo Do and Hapkido. Students who earn black belts through Chung's will be certified in both Tae Kwon Do and Tang Soo Do because of the extensive practice of both arts. Students will also develop an understanding of the basic locking and throwing techniques found in Hapkido.

About Our Arts
Tae Kwon Do Tae Kwon Do/Taekwondo is a modern Korean martial art that has recently become an Olympic sport which is popular among both children and adults. At Chung's Martial Arts Academy we make a clear distinction between sport Tae Kwon Do and traditional training. We offer separate classes where students can work specifically on Olympic Tae Kwon Do techniques that can be used in competition. Tae Kwon Do as a sport is very athletic as it is a continuous full-contact form of fighting (optional). Tae Kwon Do has some of the best kicking techniques martial arts can offer. Most movies featuring martial arts demonstrate many of Tae Kwon Do's aerial and turning kicks.

Tang Soo Do Tang Soo Do or Karate-do in Japanese, is an empty handed fighting art that uses the hands and feet to strike the vital points of attackers. Our training teaches one to gain a superior position then use highly refined techniques that do the most damage with maximum efficiency. We practice this art traditionally, not as a sport but as a means of personal protection and self improvement. Unlike most Tang Soo Do/Karate schools we teach how to use the techniques of the style for self defense rather then learning them for show or sport. While many martial arts programs claim to teach self defense, few instructors actually understand the original applications of the techniques they demonstrate.

Hapkido Hapkido is a blend of old martial arts that features vital target striking, joint locking, and throwing. Hapkido's main principle is to blend with an attackers energy and use it against him. At this academy we primarily work on the joint locking and throwing applications of Hapkido to help aid our Tang Soo Do and Tae Kwon Do techniques.
